INTRODUCTION
This log book is a direct result of my obsession with keeping records. I have kept records of my games and equipment, off and on, since I began playing in 1984. The result of modifying and tailoring my lists and notes follows in this log book.
The importance of keeping records is not readily apparent to most folks. It is not just a record in order for the keeper to have legitimate bragging rights on their performance. Records allow you to see just how good you really are and if you have been improving or not. The trouble with most recreational players is that we have few “yardsticks” to help us gauge our performance and improvement (or lack thereof). We cannot fall back on our team’s tournament record, professional stats and tournament scores. Keeping records allow you to more accurately gauge how hell you are doing.
The log was designed with this in mind.
PAINTGUN MODIFICATION AND REPAIR LOG -- FIRST PAGE
and
PAINTGUN MODIFICATION AND REPAIR LOG -- SECOND PAGE
PURPOSE: This will help you keep track on how much your paintgun is worth and how much money you have spent on it. It also keeps a record of repairs, should you wonder if you are having recurring problems this page will help you track them down. If you ever feel the need to sell the paintgun, this will give you an indication of how much to sell it for.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
PAINTGUN: This is the actual name of the paintgun, or what the manufacturer calls it.
SERIAL NUMBER: This will come in handy of the paintgun is lost or stolen. Also, if you are lucky enough to own TWO of the same paintgun, the serial number will help you differentiate them.
MANUFACTURER: An important address to have, should you need servicing or require information or help.
RETAILER: From whom you purchased it from. It's handy to know, especially if you purchased it directly from the manufacturer.
DATE PURCHASED: So you'll know how long you've owned it.
PURCHASE PRICE: So you'll know how much you paid for it.

DONE BY: Yourself, and airsmith, the manufacturer, etc.
REMARKS: General comments, as seen in the example.
COST: Include things like taxes, postage costs and the like.
TOTAL: This is the running total, and it increases with each new COST. This gives you and instant reference for the value of the paintgun.
HELPFUL HINTS:
1. If you put the paintgun and it's purchase price as the first line of your MODIFICATIONS/ REPAIRS box, you can make the TOTAL column a direct reflection of the paintgun's cost with subsequent entires.
2. A second page is provided to continue entries for the PAINTGUN. Note that the second page has boxes for just the PAINTGUN and the SERIAL NUMBER, all other relevant reference data is on the first page.
PAINT CONSUMPTION LOG
PURPOSE: This allows you to know how much paint you have put trough a particular paintgun. It is tailored so each of your paintguns has it's own paint consumption record. The reason being is several-fold. One, it allows you to track, in conjunction with the MODIFICATION AND REPAIR LOG any maintenance problems you may have. (Let's say you experienced an o-ring failure while playing, just because it plain wore out. You check your paint consumption log and see you went through 6,000 paintballs. Now, you will know that before you go through another 6,000 paintball, you're going to have to perform some preventative maintenance, so the o-ring doesn't fail again.)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

DATE: The applicable two-digit number.
HELPFUL HINTS:
1. Birthdays of club/team members and their spouses would be a good addition to this as well.
SHOT-TO-ELIMINATION RATIO LOG
PURPOSE: This is to determine how much paint you use to eliminate one opponent. While the PERFORMANCE LOG helps you with overall performance, it does not give any indication of how efficiently you are using your paint.

PAINT SHOT: The amount of paint used, less target shooting and chronographing.

REMARKS: Any particular comments you'd like to make.
HELPFUL HINTS:
1. If you are getting really good ratios; this is the page you leave open at the field.
