ATTENTION JT PROTEUS USERS

THERE IS A GENERAL RECALL OF ALL JT PROTEUS GOGGLE SYSTEMS MADE BEFORE JUNE 2001.

THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM THE MATERIAL AROUND WHERE THE HEAD STRAP ATTACHES TO THE GOGGLE SYSTEM. THIS AREA COULD SPLIT AND CAUSE YOUR GOGGLES TO FALL OFF!

THE RETURN IS FREE OF CHARGE AND THE SYSTEM WILL BE REPLACED BY THE UPDATED PROTEUS SYSTEM. I TOO AM A PROTEUS USER AND HAVE RETURNED MY GOGGLES FOR EXCHANGE.

GO TO

JT USA'S SITE

FOR RECALL DETAILS.

STOP USING JT PROTEUS GOGGLE SYSTEMS UNTIL YOU CAN CONFIRM THE SAFETY.

MY "RETIREMENT"

While the announcement tells you what's happening, it doesn't really tell you why. In response to the e-mails I've been getting, here is an explanation.

EVERYTHING IS FINE

In response to everyone's questions . . .

I WON'T BE GONE COMPLETELY

I'll still be doing paintball articles, every now and then. After a short break I plan on doing some non-marker equipment reviews. You see lots of reviews on markers, I want to reviews on equipment, aftermarket accessories, safety equipment, etc. I especially want to do head-to-head comparison (comparing different types of barrels on the same marker) and do some really creative stuff like matching bolts and barrels to see if different combinations improves or degrades performance.

I also want to write about paintball, for non-paintball publications. Now that paintball is going mainstream, I feel there is a need for paintball writers to clearly and accurately portray paintball to the non-paintball-playing public.

WHY I'M RETIRING

I've been writing since 1992 and I've written over two hundred articles. (Two hundred and fifty have been published, some of my articles have been rewritten, updated and re-published.) While I seem to have a wealth of information on the subject of paintball, the well is not bottomless. As unbelievable as this may seem (especially for people who know me) I've actually run out of things to say.

When I submitted my first two articles to Action Pursuit Games magazine back in '92, I had no idea that it would lead to all that it did.

Also, I'm actually kind of burnt out (when it comes to writing for paintball) and I really want to write other things.

I wanted to be published in paintball so that I could be published somewhere. When you're seriously trying to sell a novel it helps that the publisher knows that you're been published before. Now that I am not writing for paintball any more, I can spend that time working on finishing my novels. I've been writing military science fiction and I haven't really dedicated the time I should to getting all my unfinished work done. (I've even worked paintball into one of the plot lines!) Keep and eye out for military sci-fi books by "D.B. Leger".
