Light Up
To hit a player with multiple paintballs. A practice associated with hosing. However, upon first glance, getting hosed and getting lit-up would seem to be the same thing. It has been my observation that the two terms are used in accordance with the perceived intention of the hoser. Getting hosed usually referred to as getting hit multiple times, while the hoser was shooting at the player's cover or in the general direction. Lighting up seems to be popularly understood as the practice of INTENTIONALLY inflicting multiple hits on an opponent for no other purpose than to inflict multiple hits. Few players liked to be hosed, but will often times accept is as incidental. NO ONE likes to be lit-up as it is viewed as intentional malicious behaviour.

Loader
Feeder. (qv)

Loader Cover
A neoprene cover put on a feeder to deaden the sound of the balls rattling, protect the feeder from ball strikes or to cause an opponent's ball to bounce of a loader it would normally break on.

Loading Tubes

Plastic tubes, usually with integral lids, used to carry paint for fast reloading. Loading tubes range from 10-ball capacity up to over 150 balls.

Lonestar
A brand name and generic term for an M-16 designed pistol grip. The Lonestar M-16 grip is usually standard with any marker that can accept an M-16 type of pistol grip.

Lower Receiver
The lower part of the marker usually housing the trigger, trigger guard, grips and/or grip frame and perhaps the trigger mechanism and sear. Also popularly known as pistol grip. So like loader and feeder, the terms seem to be interchangeable and thus confusing to the beginning player. When the terms pistol grips, grips and lower receiver are almost mutually interchangeable, it can be confusing to even experienced players.

Low Pressure System
This is a system commonly found on semi-automatic markers or provided as an aftermarket accessory. The system lowers air pressure thereby reducing the impact on the paintball (when it is fired) and reduces waste gas. The low pressure system consists of an expanded valve chamber (the physics of compressed gases dictate that the larger the volume, the lower the pressure of the same amount of gas from the source). The valve must also be modified or replaced with one that allows a higher flow of air. This compensates for the lower pressure of the gas.

L-Stock
Basically a metal stock that is shaped like the letter "L". It is usually mounted at the bottom of the grip frame or grip. The bottom foot of the "L" rests against the shoulder.
