Neoprene
A closed cell rubber foam material used in scuba diving suits, used in paintball for tank and loader covers.

Neutral
The term that applies to a player who cannot be shot at or cannot shot or move. A referee has the authority to call a player neutral in certain circumstances, such as a paint check.

Newbie
A first time or beginning player.

Nitro
Nitrogen or a nitrogen powered paintmarker. I.E. A Nitro Automag. Is also used, in this case, for a marker powered by high pressure air. The Nitro Automag mentioned could, in fact be powered by high pressure air, not nitrogen.

Nitrogen
This is one of the two "alternate CO2" gasses becoming popular. Nitrogen (N2) is basically pressurized gas system. The N2 system is charged by pressure, not by weight, as CO2 systems are. Because the pressures are much higher than CO2, a regulator must be in place between the power source and the marker or the marker's internal systems may be damaged, or actually explode. Many markers are now factory designed to withstand the higher pressures. However, the regulator is still required to control gas flow and aid in adjusting velocity. Components used for CO2 systems (such as hoses, elbows, couplers, etc) are not compatible to N2 systems. This system has been adopted due to its lack of liquid and thus its performance is little effected by ambient air temperature. Two troubles which have plagued CO2 powered systems, especially when used during elevated rates of fire.

Nubbin
The Airgun Designs term for a ball flag. In this case, the nubbin is not attached to the body of the Automag (and its variants) but secured to the barrel with o-rings. It can be used as a generic term for an anti-double feed device. It is originally a British term meaning a small nub or piece. It is used generally as an alternate to "whatchamacallit", "thingie", "doo- dad" and other highly technical terms.
