q

Q-changer
The common abbreviation for quick changer.

Quick Changer
This is a device that is used when markers are powered with 12 grams. They come in five basic types, most q-changers have some device to force the 12 gram onto the piercing pin. Some quick changers have back check valves.

  • Screw in plug with drop-out slot:
    This is the most prevalent style, the plug has only to be partially unscrewed to allow the loading or removal of the 12 gram. The screw forces the 12 gram onto the piercing pin.

  • Screw in plug without drop-out slot:
    This design makes up for the fact that the plug must be totally removed by making the threads more coarse, so as to reduce the number of times the plug has to be turned before it can be removed to change 12 grams. The screw forces the 12 gram onto the piercing pin.

  • Lever action with drop-out slot;
    Instead of a screw plug, the twelve gram is inserted and removed by the action of a lever. Closing the lever forces the 12 gram onto the piercing pin.

  • Multi-12 gram:
    Usually a lever action quick changer, but it has some sort of spring- loaded magazine or rotating drum. The idea is to provide quick changing of multiple 12 grams stored in the unit. Some of this type will eject a spent 12 gram and load a fresh one with a pull, and push, of the lever. The lever forces the 12 gram onto the piercing pin.
    I couldn't figure out how to do the animation -- stay tuned.

  • Stock Class:
    Also known as "bucket" changers. It is a cup which holds the 12 gram and screws onto an assembly that has a piercing pin in it.

    Most q-changers are able to screw into an ASA while others are built into the marker.

    Quick Disconnect
    This unti allows the player to disconnect (and reconnect) their remote system from the marker. It is also used between components connected by an air hose that must be dissasembled on a regular basis. It is comprised of a nipple and a coupling device.

    Stainless steel disconnect.
